Island Hospice & Healthcare

Island Hospice & Healthcare (Island) was established in 1979 as the first hospice in Africa. Island is a registered Private Voluntary Organisation (PVO# W.O 27/9) with branches in Bulawayo, Harare, Marondera and Mutare. The organization provides quality palliative and bereavement care to patients facing life threatening illnesses (such as HIV, cancer and dementia) and their families to reduce suffering and pain and improve quality of life.

In 2017 Island Hospice & Healthcare was chosen by the World Health Organization to be evaluated to be a demonstration site for Africa.

ZOL Zimbabwe provides Island Hospice with a free internet fibre connection, a service to add to their total commitment to excellence in Hospice care, regardless of the ability to pay.
